Description
In a cold wintery landscape, somewhere in the wilderness of the American Wild West, a powerful warrior horse stands atop a snow covered hill looking across a valley to where smoke rises in the distance over thick fir trees. Dark clouds fill the overcast sky, and the winds of winter blow harsh through the painted appaloosa's dark mane and tail.
From the artist: I created this in December of 2021. The weather in Atlanta, however, was not at all wintery and was warm enough to go outside in short sleeves. I guess I missed the cold a bit, and it put me in a mood to create some real winter scenes.
Also, for this work I had some fun an created an animated version for which I created an NFT ( https://bit.ly/3sU2Wn4 ).
A guide to the meanings behind the markings:
Lines on its face represent victories in battle.
For keen senses, it has the sun painted around its eye and circles around its nostrils.
The blue circles are hail to rain down upon enemies.
The arrow on its neck is a sign of victory.
The handprint on it hindquarters means it has accomplished a mission.
A symbol for a snake is on its hind leg, and above that, blue horses for captured mounts.
A cross on its flank is for escaping an ambush.
Thanks for looking!
