In a cold wintery landscape, somewhere in the wilderness of the American Wild West, a powerful warrior horse stands atop a snow covered hill looking across a valley to where smoke rises in the distance over thick fir trees. Dark clouds fill the overcast sky, and the winds of winter blow harsh through the painted appaloosa's dark mane and tail.
From the artist: I created this in December of 2021. The weather in Atlanta, however, was not at all wintery and was warm enough to go outside in short sleeves. I guess I missed the cold a bit, and it put me in a mood to create some real winter scenes.
Also, for this work I had some fun an created an animated version for which I created an NFT ( https://bit.ly/3sU2Wn4 ).
A guide to the meanings behind the markings:
Lines on its face represent victories in battle.
For keen senses, it has the sun painted around its eye and circles around its nostrils.
The blue circles are hail to rain down upon enemies....
Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations. His works have appeared in magazines and newspapers; the covers of books, albums, and products; and even in a few science and natural history museums.
