The Goddess Diana, also known as Artemis, dark haired and wearing an ephemeral white dress, looses an arrow from her bow up into the heavens. At her feet, her trusty hunting dog stands guard. In Greek and Roman mythology, she is the goddess of the hunt.
From the Artist: I recently visited Brookgreen Gardens near Charleston, South Carolina. It’s a neat place to visit with a small zoo and tons of sculptures. One in particular that I liked was “Diana of the Chase” by Anna Hyatt Huntington. It inspired me to make a similar work featuring the goddess of the hunt, though, mine is a bit more safe-for-work. Typically, she would have a dog more akin to a greyhound, but I was in the mood to add a boxer.
