Description
In this fantasy scene, a brown haired adventuress wearing a maroon colored ranger outfit with a sword strapped across her back and a hammered metal prosthetic leg sits on a rock and glances in your direction. Her right hand rests on the neck of her companion: a massive blue dragon. Smoke drifts from the nostrils of the great beast as it stares directly at you.
This images was made due to a request...occasionally I do take requests. One of my Facebook fans suggested that I make a fantasy themed artwork featuring a hero with a prosthetic leg. As this is mediaeval fantasy, I didn't want the leg to look too modern, but I wanted something more than just a wooden peg. So, I made something that looks like it was made by a skilled armourer. I realized about half way through making this, that there already was such a pair as this in fiction, so I chose a female protagonist and a fearsome rather than cute looking dragon so that this would not echo Hiccup and Toothless from the movie "How to Train Your Dragon" too much.
I created this image using digital techniques. The process is similar to how movies create special effect scenes using CGI, only I make still images rather than animated scenes. To start with, I modelled the prosthetic leg in Blender3D. Next, I used Poser 10 to pose the woman and dragon. I then imported everything into Vue 2015 where I assembled the natural elements of the scene and did the final rendering. I used GIMP for the final stage where I did a good bit of digital painting. I also used Topaz Adjust to do some minor color enhancement.
Thanks for looking!
