Description
Take care when you have a debate with a dragon for it is a deceitful creature that lies, twists the facts, insinuates dark thoughts, raises doubts where there is truth, and spreads misinformation.
In this fantasy artwork, a young woman in a blue dress speaks with a green dragon in a dense enchanted forest. Though the beast towers over her, she appears unafraid and seems to be calmly talking with it. In the background the trees fade into the mists of the mossy green woods.
From the artist: At 18” x 24”, this was my first large scale oil pastel artwork, all works prior being 9”x12”. I decided to go with a more fairy tale illustration look for this. One of my ideas was to make the dragon look like it was made of wet leaves, as if it has arisen straight from the forest floor. I made the girl’s dress however a bluish green to make her really stand out as if she has braved entering a place where she does not belong.
The original is 18”x24” on archival quality sanded paper. It was made using professional grade Sennelier oil pastels, and Faber Castell polychromos colored pencils. It has been fixed with 5 coats of Sennelier fixative for oil pastels.
