This is an illustration I did for the Novella "The Sword from Beyond the Stars" by J.D. Harber.
The creature is called a Shorrak. It's a flying mount used by the various intelligent races of world of Gwade (the setting for the book), but apparently is rather expensive and rare so is employed sparingly. The protagonists in the story are involved in a chase sequence on one. The book really has no detailed description of them so I was free to make it look how I envisioned it which made it a really fun illustration to do.

Daniel is a classically trained artist.
