In my homage to Jacques-Louis David's "The Death of Socrates", three rather homely men philosophize over steaming mugs of coffee around a table in front of the Autumn Blend cafe. One has clearly made a relevant point, another argues against that point, and the third is just plain annoyed with the others. Autumn leaves dot the sidewalk while jazz music from the band inside can be just heard above these would-be philosophers.

Almost every one I go to has a group of regulars, usually a bunch of retired men, who sit around and rather loudly discuss philosophy, politics, religions, sports or anything else for which they have strong opinions. This work is inspired by all those coffee house philosophers out there.
