In my homage to Jacques-Louis David's "The Death of Socrates", three rather homely men philosophize over steaming mugs of coffee around a table in front of the Autumn Blend cafe. One has clearly made a relevant point, another argues against that point, and the third is just plain annoyed with the others. Autumn leaves dot the sidewalk while jazz music from the band inside can be just heard above these would-be philosophers.
I visit cafes several times a week, usually to read or get a bit of work done on my laptop. Almost every one I go to has a group of regulars, usually a bunch of retired men, who sit around and rather loudly discuss philosophy, politics, religions, sports or anything else for which they have strong opinions. This work is inspired by all those coffee house philosophers out there.

Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations. His works have appeared in magazines and newspapers; the covers of books, albums, and products; and even in a few science and natural history museums.
