Artist's Description
On a cold, overcast winter day, a dark man rides a dark horse. In one hand he holds his mount's reins, in the other, a rifle. A red scarf obscures his face beneath his black hat.
This is the man in black. He is the villain of the American Wild West, the bad guy, the embodiment of evil. He might have a name, but you need know him only as "The Dark Rider".
Typically in old Western movies, particularly the black and white ones, the villain would wear a black hat and the hero a white. In modern culture, "black hat" can be used to refer to computer hackers who engage in unlawful practices.
From the artist: On an unusually cold day in January of 2023, I found myself in a mood to create a cold winter scene. I've actually used this same character before in a slightly different pose (https://daniel-eskridge.pixels.com/featured/black-hat-daniel-eskridge.html), but I like the contrast of the dark man and horse against the snow in this one better.
Thanks for look...
