While riding through a deep, dark forest, a knight has been knocked from his horse by a low branch. He has landed in a small stream and seems pretty sure that his horse is laughing at him. Recovering from his humiliation, he looks up to see a long-haired, beautiful young woman in a long dress smiling at him from behind an old oak. Accompanying here is a small cadre of forest animals.
There are numerous legends and stories of knights and princes meeting strange beauties in the heart of magical forests. Having two young children, I was recently exposed to one such story. In this case, it was Disney's "Sleeping Beauty". While not specifically an illustration or fan art, this work was definitely inspired by that movie.
Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations. His works have appeared in magazines and newspapers; the covers of books, albums, and products; and even in a few science and natural history museums.
