A leshy, leshii, or lesovik is a mythical creature from Slavic folklore. It is a forest spirit, often depicted as a tall man who resembles a tree, making it easy for him to blend into the forest. The leshy is said to lead travelers astray, making them lost in the forest. However, he can also guide them out if he chooses.
A leshy is often depicted with green eyes and either green or blue skin, to represent his connection with the forest. His hair and beard are made of living grass and vines. Sometimes, he is said to have a tail, hooves, and horns, similar to the western depiction of the devil or a satyr.

Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations. His works have appeared in magazines and newspapers; the covers of books, albums, and products; and even in a few science and natural history museums.
