As you hide among the coral beneath the ocean surface, you glance into the distance over the drop-off into the deep. Four massive forms emerge from the aquatic gloom. Moments later, the pod of humpback whales swim past. The rays of the sun that shine from the surface dance across the backs of the underwater giants illuminating their dappled dark skin.
After returning from a beach vacation, I was in the mood to make a few aquatic and beach themed artworks. It's been a while since I've featured a whale, and this is the first one where I have them underwater.
I created this image using digital techniques. The wales were posed in Poser then exported to Vue where the rest of the scene was made. I used Vue to do the rendering, then GIMP and Topaz Adjust to enhance the colors.
