Artist's Description
Dark Horse and Full Moon
A black coated Friesian horse rears up atop a small grassy cliff. The midnight wind blows through the animal's dark mane and tail. Behind it the full moon fills the sky over a forest of fir trees.
For this artwork I wanted to create a nighttime scene to emphasize the horse's black coat, yet I still wanted the image to be bright. So I added the huge moon in the background to create an almost glowing effect to this work.
I create this kind of art using digital technology. It's a hybrid of digital 3d sculpting, digital painting, and 3D rendering (CGI).

About Daniel Eskridge
Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations. His works have appeared in magazines and newspapers; the covers of books, albums, and products; and even in a few science and natural history museums.
