"Buffalo At Dawn"
At the crest of a grassy hill in the plains of the American West, a might buffalo stands in the cold morning air. The dark brown hair of the bison's coat contrasts sharply with the bright orange, yellow and reds of the dawn sky. Yet the light of the rising sun still gives the animals fur a subtle halo.
This work was a bit of a struggle for me. The complex sky and fur of the animal caused the render engine to take weeks then crash when it was 80% done. I wound up having to rely on a lot of digital painting techniques to get this one done.

Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations. His works have appeared in magazines and newspapers; the covers of books, albums, and products; and even in a few science and natural history museums.
