Sitting among vine covered ruins in a dense jungle, a giant black gorilla looks alert, while next to him a woman in a loose flowery dress lazily leans against the massive primate. The woman seems completely relaxed with her simian friend, so much so that she idly texts on her mobile phone.
I was mostly just having a bit of fun making this artwork. Gorilla's are one of my favorite animals, but I find them really difficult to get right in art. This work started out as just practice for creating an ape scene. I thought it looked pretty good, but I wanted to add a touch of humor, so I added the ape's babysitter.
I created this image using digital art techniques. The gorilla was posed in Daz Studio where the fur was also added using the LookAtMyHair plug-in. The girl was posed in Poser. Both were exported to Vue where the rest of the scene was made. I used Vue to do the rendering, then GIMP and Topaz Adjust to enhance the colors.
Thanks for looking,
