Artist's Description

Out of the mists stomps one of nature's powerhouses: the magnificent rhinoceros, one of the most iconic of African beasts. With its thick skin and sharp horn, this creature is the tank of the animal world. In this piece of wildlife artwork, the rhino gives an angry snort as he marches aggressively towards the viewer. His steamy breath mixes the mists that enshroud the landscape. There are two major types of Rhino in Africa: The Black Rhinoceros, and the White Rhinoceros. They are often hunted for their horns. Poaching is a huge problem for the species. There are also three types of Asian rhinos: Indian, Javan, and Sumatran. Despite conservation efforts, several types of rhino are critically endangered. About how I create my artwork: Rather than traditional forms of art such as painting or photography I use a computer to create my images. It's called 3D Rendering and works like so: I make a scene by sculpting and arranging digital models in a virtual 3D space. After stipulating...

About Daniel Eskridge

Daniel Eskridge

I am a forty-something living in the Metro-Atlanta area -- one of the few people who was actually born and raised here. I'm married and have two sons and a daughter. By day, I am a senior software engineer. But, by night I am a 3D render artist. I have dual degrees from the University of Georgia, one in Computer Science, the other in Fine Art. So, it seems only natural that I attempt to combine the two by producing art using a computer. Plus, I find that it's a bit more practical than painting as it doesn't require all of the clean up, harsh chemicals, or expensive supplies. In fact, I have been a render artist since some of the first ray-tracing programs were made publicly available in the mid 80's. To follow me on facebook CLICK...
