A wild horse with a brown and white coat and a dark mane and tail gallops through a dense green forest.

From the artist: While I'd created many digital paintings of horses and had gotten rather popular as an equine artist, I had not at the point of creating this work, done any professional level horse art using traditional materials. I felt that needed to change. After a year or so of working with oil pastels, I decided to take on my first horse themed work using Sennelier oil pastels. I like the way the media adds a touch of impressionism to the subject.

The original is on 18"x24" archival quality sanded paper created using Sennelier oil pastels with some Faber Castell oil based Polychromos colored pencils used for the detail work. Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations. His works have appeared in magazines and newspapers; the covers of books, albums, and products; and even in a few science and natural history museums.
