"Spirit of the Blizzard"
A white wolf stands on dark rocks. This predator of the North American wilderness gazes at you. A blizzard has rolled in and snow whips out of the dark night sky. It's as if the animal has summoned the winter storm out of the arctic. It is the wind that howls or are more wolves near by.
White Wolves, also known as arctic wolves or Melville Island wolves are a subspecies of gray wolf that live in the Canadian Arctic Archipelago. They are a bit smaller than the typical gray wolf.
I've created many images with wolves and even several featuring white ones, but I think this is my best image so far to feature a white wolf. Also, a bit unusual for me, this is one of my rare night scenes. However, I didn't want it too dark, so I gave the impression that there is light in the background as if there is some human settlement reflecting light off the low clouds.
