You find yourself in a wilderness far from any civilization. Night is descending over the field in which you stand, and the overcast sky only adds to the encroaching murkiness. Suddenly, from the edge of the field, emerging from a forest of fir trees, a brilliant light cuts through the gloom. A magnificent unicorn gallops into the long grass, its horn a shining beacon that promises to drive away the darkness.
I was watching a show on Netflix: Shadow and Bone. Several scenes feature classical looking art in the background. In one such scene, there was an artwork shown that I saw only for an instant, but I really like the composition of it. I thought it was a scene of a horse in a gloomy field. If gave me the idea to create this scene which played against light versus dark. Later, I watched the episode again and paused it for a better look and realized the picture was not at all what I had first seen and was rather uninteresting. So, I like my version better :)

Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations.
