Description
Thrown-Away and By-The-Door are legendary hero twins of Native American folklore. Many American Indian tribes incorporate them into their stories, sometimes as enemies, but more often as working together to defeat monsters and other evil antagonists. Usually, the story goes that they were separated at birth. Their mother is murdered by either a monster or evil human while the rest of the tribe is away. The killer leaves one of the boys in the village, but abandons the other in the wilderness. The boys mature, each with a personality matching the environment they were left in. They meet up again as young men or teens and have adventures together. They go by many names including, Village Boy and Wild Boy, Curtain Boy and Spring Boy, Long Teeth and Drinks Brains, Monster Slayer and Born For Water, and many more.
This is actually my second depiction of the Hero Twins. You can check out my earlier version here: https://daniel-eskridge.pixels.com/featured/twin-heroes-daniel-eskridge.html. For this one I wanted to focus more on the twins rather than having a lot of landscape in the scene.
