Description
Zeus, the king of the Greek gods, stands upon Mount Olympus ready to hurl lightning bolts down upon the earth and mankind. So large he towers over the peak that the marble temples at his feet look like toys compared to his massive form. Lighting steaks down from stormy skies from which the greatest god of mythology seems to draw his next glowing, jagged bolt.
Greek mythology is one of the most common themes in the art of western civilization. I've done a few images of the goddess Athena, and, of course, depicted a few mythological monsters, such as the chimera and the Minotaur, but I really wanted to get into depicting a lot more of the ancient gods and legends. So I decided to go big with the best known god of all time. Most art depicts him sitting on a throne, but I wanted to create a more energetic work with Zeus looking really active. So I went with him ready to cast a whole storm down on the world.
