Description
Folklore has it that a wood sprite is a particular breed of fairy that lives within and maintains an individual tree, usually an oak, ash or hawthorn. This particular wood sprite's tree has long since died. Yet, she perseveres and maintains it still as a fountain with magical waters - a refreshing stop for woodland travelers.
I had originally build the stump in this for another image featuring an otter (http://daniel-eskridge.artistwebsites.com/featured/otter-by-a-stump-daniel-eskridge.html), but I liked it so much that I decided to build an artwork that featured it a bit more. One of the nice things about 3d rendering is that you can reuse models so easily. So, I only had to sculpt it once using a program called Sculptris.
