Description
An old pinto coated war horse, once the companion of an American Indian warrior, somehow still wears the Native American war paint of its younger days. This powerful equestrian leads two other wild mustangs out of a wilderness valley in the American Wild West. In the distance, a huge rocky mountain, dusted with the snows of the oncoming winter, rises into the sky. The wind blows through the long manes and tails of these three animals as they make their way of a hill covered in the golden grass of the late autumn season.
For this artwork, I wanted to go for something a bit more grandiose than my usual scenes. I started with the idea for an epic rocky mountain and constructed the image around that. The mountain felt a bit heavy in the composition though. So, I decided the balance it out with the three horses placed so that they mirrored the form of the rocky peak.
Thanks for looking!
