The "Hopkinsville Goblins" case refers to an alleged close encounter with extraterrestrial beings reported in 1955 near Hopkinsville, Kentucky. This incident is one of the most well-known and controversial in American UFO history. H
The event occurred on the night of August 21, 1955, at a farmhouse in the rural area near Hopkinsville and Kelly, Kentucky. In total, there were eleven people at the farmhouse who reported the encounter.
The creatures were described as small, around three feet tall, with upright pointed ears, thin limbs, long arms and claw-like hands. They were said to have large, round eyes and a metallic, silver skin. The witnesses referred to them as "goblins."
The family reported that the beings appeared at their farmhouse late at night. They claimed to have used firearms to shoot at them, but the creatures were seemingly unharmed. The encounter lasted several hours, during which the creatures repeatedly appeared and disappeared. They contacted the local police, who, along with state troopers and military police from the nearby Fort Campbell, investigated the scene. They found no evidence of any creatures but noted that the family seemed genuinely terrified.
The story received significant attention from local and national media, quickly turning into a sensation. It was widely reported and sensationalized, which contributed to its enduring presence in UFO and alien folklore. Skeptics have proposed various explanations, including the possibility of the witnesses having seen great horned owls, which could have been misinterpreted as alien beings due to the heightened tension and poor night-time visibility.
