Description
A great, old, twisted, dark dead tree rises from a field of golden grass. It has been there so long that it sits on a pedestal of earth held together by its roots while the land around it has eroded to a much lower level. This ancient hardwood must have become a landmark for travelers as a dirt road passes right under it. A wooden fence runs along side the path further indicating that the tree marks the edge of someone's pasture. Behind the tree, the back of the field is edged with forest. With the autumn, the trees wear their fall colors. Overhead, dark clouds fill the sky hinting at the coming winter.
There are none of my usual animals in this scene. I've had a few requests to do some pure landscape work and decided to create a nice rural work. I was definitely in a fall frame of mind, so I decided to do another autumn scene. For this artwork I wanted to create a very warm picture with orange as the dominant color. I also did some experimenting with HDR post processing for this one - it's not just for photos, it can work or digital art as well. I like how it makes the image look more like a painting.
Thanks for Looking,
Daniel Eskridge
