A river otter stands on the shore of a river peeking over the tall yellow grasses alert for any signs of danger.
I've always rather liked otters. They can be found in the lakes and rivers near where I live in Georgia. I have done a few otter images in the past, but it has been a few years and my techniques have changed. So I decided to make a new one. Originally, I made this otter model for a collaborative artwork with another digital render artist Massimo Verona a.k.a. Massi San. You can see that work here: http://massi-san.deviantart.com/art/My-Friend-The-Otter-copy-401083483 . This image really started as a test render for the model, but I thought it made a pretty good stand-alone artwork.
About how I create my artwork:
Rather than traditional forms of art such as painting or photography, I use a computer to create my images. It's called 3D Rendering and works like so: I make a scene by sculpting and arranging digital models in a virtual 3D space....
Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations. His works have appeared in magazines and newspapers; the covers of books, albums, and products; and even in a few science and natural history museums.
