In the wilderness of the American west, a wild pinto coated mustang stands on a grassy hill looking out into the sky where clouds in the form of giant horses drift in the afternoon sky over the prairie. A strong wind blows the paint horse's black mane and tail back as if sent by those spirits within the clouds. This started out as an experiment to test a technique for painting shaped clouds. The technique seemed to work pretty well so I decided to create a full scene with it. In order to make sure viewers could see the shapes of the horses in the clouds, I thought I needed to put a living horse in the foreground. I went with a paint horse because its multicolored coat presented a nice contrast to the all white horses of the clouds. I am a forty-something living in the Metro-Atlanta area -- one of the few people who was actually born and raised here. I'm married and have two sons and a daughter. By day, I am a senior software engineer. But, by night I am a 3D render artist. I have dual degrees from the University of Georgia, one in Computer Science, the other in Fine Art. So, it seems only natural that I attempt to combine the two by producing art using a computer. Plus, I find that it's a bit more practical than painting as it doesn't require all of the clean up, harsh chemicals, or expensive supplies. In fact, I have been a render artist since some of the first ray-tracing programs were made publicly available in the mid 80's. To follow me on facebook CLICK...

Hello Daniel Eskridge. I'd like to know if you and your family are descendants of the Eskridges out of Carroll County Mississippi. My Great-Great Grandparents were Frank & Eliza Eskridge born in or near Duckhill, Mississippi. It's an unusual last name, so I thought I would ask. BTW, your artwork is beautiful.
Daniel Eskridge replied:
Thanks Marti! There are several Frank Eskridges in my family tree, but none married to an Eliza and they all lived in Atlanta. I've heard though that all Eskridges are descended from a Colonel George Eskridge who lived in Virginia
