Description
In the wilderness of the American west, a wild pinto coated mustang stands on a grassy hill looking out into the sky where clouds in the form of giant horses drift in the afternoon sky over the prairie. A strong wind blows the paint horse's black mane and tail back as if sent by those spirits within the clouds.
This started out as an experiment to test a technique for painting shaped clouds. The technique seemed to work pretty well so I decided to create a full scene with it. In order to make sure viewers could see the shapes of the horses in the clouds, I thought I needed to put a living horse in the foreground. I went with a paint horse because its multicolored coat presented a nice contrast to the all white horses of the clouds.

Hello Daniel Eskridge. I'd like to know if you and your family are descendants of the Eskridges out of Carroll County Mississippi. My Great-Great Grandparents were Frank & Eliza Eskridge born in or near Duckhill, Mississippi. It's an unusual last name, so I thought I would ask. BTW, your artwork is beautiful.
Daniel Eskridge replied:
Thanks Marti! There are several Frank Eskridges in my family tree, but none married to an Eliza and they all lived in Atlanta. I've heard though that all Eskridges are descended from a Colonel George Eskridge who lived in Virginia
