Artist's Description
Smilodon Californicus was one of the two sub-breads of Smilodon Fatalis. It is known mostly from fossils found in the la Brea Tar Pits. I gave this one his own lookout tower so that he can scan the area for prey.

About Daniel Eskridge
Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations. His works have appeared in magazines and newspapers; the covers of books, albums, and products; and even in a few science and natural history museums.
