Description
This is actually something I did back in 2009. I decided to upload it to enter it in a contest on reflection.
I saw an image on a billboard that I kind of liked of a forest seen through a stone arch. I decided to try and make a similar work. It didn’t take me long to have a forest view through an arch, but I thought it was kind of boring so I added water to make it look like the viewer was looking out of some sort of cistern. That’s when the idea of reflection factored in. I added the second archway and then the girls. Even though the wind direction doesn’t make any sense, I like the way the light hit each of the figures differently, so, even though it’s technically not a reflection in the mirror image sense, it still hints at symmetry.

I love the symmetry and the fantasy of light and reflection. Beautiful work Daniel. f/v

Daniel, I have really enjoyed looking through your portfolio of art. Something about your use of color and attention to fine detail reminds me of Maxfield Parrish. Especially in this piece with the stone arches, reflecting pool and graceful figures. All of your work is stunning.

fascinating Daniel, and the way you have managed to transform your idea onto 'canvas' is nothing short of masterful! vote/fav!
