On a remote hill in the wilderness, a red deer stands in tall grass surveying the landscape. Snow covered mountains rise from the mists into a moody, cloudy sky behind this stag who looks tall and proud with large antlers like a crown on his head.
Where I grew up in northern Georgia, the common type of deer is the white tail. So most of my works featuring deer tend to be of that species. However, I had a request to try a red deer. Apparently Red Deer are one of the most common types existing naturally in Europe, Asia, and even Africa. They have also been introduced in Australia and the Americas. A distinctive feature is that the males may have a neck mane depending on the season.
