A black raven is busy reading his favorite book. The bird is looking up from his tome at you. Appently it's a good read you've disturbed him.

A single candle illumnates the scene. The book that the raven is reading from is propped up on another thick book. Both of them are the antique style with a metal clasp. The whole scene is layed out on a wooden table, were the white candle rests on a ceramic plate.

I had a request for an artwork featuring a raven. It's an interesting bird to work with as it is so dark. I decided to play up on the dark themed by lighting the scene with a candle as the primary light. It definitely gave it a very soft look.
