"The Drama Bunny"

A rabbit with brown fur sits on a grassy hill. It looks over its shoulder with its ears perked up. In the background, bright lightning forks down from dark stormy skies.

This rabbit should probably be frightened by the thunder and retreat to it's burrow, but not this one. This is The Drama Bunny. Rather than hide in its hole, the drama bunny deliberately seeks out situations of fear, stress, and danger.

Originally, I just wanted to create a picture of a rabbit in a field, but, after working on in for a while, I though it was beginning to look a little too serious. Rather than mellow it out a bit, I decided to play it up and make it so over-the-top that it started being silly. So, I changed the environment to that of a menacing storm.

I was sort of inspired by a couple of idioms: the "drama queen" (someone who sees drama in everything) and the "stress puppy" (someone who thrives on stressful situations). I see the Drama Bunny as a sort of hybrid of the two. The Drama Bunny doesn't see drama in everything rather it seeks it out unnecessarily so that it is constantly in dramatic situations.

I created this image using CGI and digital painting techniques.
