Artist's Description
In this dynamic scene from the American Wild West, a pinto coated mustang gallops through a dusty landscape. This is no regular paint horse, but an Indian pony painted for war. The mustang's coat is a mix of white and brown patches, which contrast sharply with the bright colors of those markings.
The horse's mane and tail are wild, flowing with the motion of its sprint, and the dust kicked up by its hooves adds to the sense of speed and intensity. The expression and motion of the horse convey strength, freedom, and a deep connection to nature and heritage.
The markings on the horse have a variety of meanings:
For keen senses, it has the sun painted around its eye.
Because he has brought his rider back unharmed from battle, there is a hand print on its side.

About Daniel Eskridge

Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations. His works have appeared in magazines and newspapers; the covers of books, albums, and products; and even in a few science and natural history museums.
