Description
Under a bright hazy sky, a buffalo stands on a grassy hilltop. It's a warm fall day and the grass has turned a golden color. In the distance, trees rise into the sky sporting bright red and orange leaves. Something seems unusual about this bison, though. It stares at you with a knowing look, like the gaze of a person you know, rather than that of an animal. Perhaps this is not just any animal. Perhaps, instead, it's the spirit of one of your ancestors checking up on you.
Originally, I just wanted to create a calm seen of a buffalo in autumn. However, when I was getting close to done, I felt that the stare of the animal felt a little eerie. I decided to work with it and actually gave it some very subtle anthropomorphic touches in the face to give an almost subconscious sense that the buffalo was the spirit of old man.
