Artist's Description
"Figthing Crane"
A crane spreads its wings and strikes out with it's claw. It stands in shallow reed filled water and is backlit by the setting sun.
The crane is one of the animals upon which some forms of kung fu are based, so I decided to give this bird an aggressive stance. However, a crane doesn't really come off as a particularly fierce animal when dipicted in a still scene, so to further emphasize its anger, I gave it a strong red/orange backlight.
I got the inspiration for this artwork while watching "Kung Fu Panda" with my kids.
To create this image I used digital techniques including 3D Rendering and digital painting.
