Out of dust and fog, a herd of elephants stampedes towards the viewer. The leader has his eyes fixed straight ahead, staring at you. Perhaps you should get out of the way of these five angry, charging pachyderms. After all, if you don't get gored by their long ivory tusks, you will certainly get trampled under their massive weight.
While I've done a number of artworks featuring mammoths, this is my first piece of elephant art. All in all, I'm rather happy with the way the image turned out. I wanted a sense of action and danger. So, I used a composition that I like for this which I call the "eye", that is, the subjects (in this case, elephants) taken together, roughly form the shape of an eye staring back at the viewer.

Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations.
