Artist's Description

Three skeletons dance in the moonlight while a forth plays the lute. Meanwhile, another skeleton emerges from the ground to join the party. Based on the 1493 woodcut by Michael Wolgemut This one is a little something I put together for Halloween 2015. The Danse Macabre is a recurring art theme originating in the middle ages. It was particularly present in response to the spread of the Black Death. Technically speaking, the Dance of Death is not originally for Halloween. Rather originated with religious art giving the lesson that death, no matter ones station in life, is common to us all. But, I think it works as a Halloween themed image just fine. To create this image I used both digital sculpting and painting techniques. Thanks for looking! Daniel Eskridge Original art by Daniel Eskridge. Fine art and home decor. About Daniel Eskridge

Daniel Eskridge

I am a forty-something living in the Metro-Atlanta area -- one of the few people who was actually born and raised here. I'm married and have two sons and a daughter. By day, I am a senior software engineer. But, by night I am a 3D render artist. I have dual degrees from the University of Georgia, one in Computer Science, the other in Fine Art. So, it seems only natural that I attempt to combine the two by producing art using a computer. Plus, I find that it's a bit more practical than painting as it doesn't require all of the clean up, harsh chemicals, or expensive supplies. In fact, I have been a render artist since some of the first ray-tracing programs were made publicly available in the mid 80's. To follow me on facebook CLICK...
