Late at night in a dense wood, a woman in a nightgown kneels among the forest undergrowth. Small, brightly lit fairies flit around her, and one fairy has even landed in her open hands. However, these fae are not the playful sprites they seem. The girl is so entranced by the magical creatures, that she fails to notice that, in the darkness of the background, a menacing figure has emerged. The devil himself with red skin, horned head, a carrying a pitchfork, holds a flame in his hand as he watches her, an evil grin on his frightening face. Perhaps these fairies are just bait for his trap.
This one was a bit inspired by one of my favorite fantasy movies of the 80's "Legend", but also by the works of artists Edward Robert Hughes and Henry Fuseli.  I had a ton of fun with setting up the lighting for this artwork. Â
