Product Details

Our greeting cards are 5" x 7" in size and are produced on digital offset printers using 100 lb. paper stock. Each card is coated with a UV protectant on the outside surface which produces a semi-gloss finish. The inside of each card has a matte white finish and can be customized with your own message up to 500 characters in length. Each card comes with a white envelope for mailing or gift giving.

Alternative Titles: "The Buzzard's Prize", "A Bird Named Hamlet"

A Huge American Black Vulture stands proudly upon a rock resting in a grassy field. It is late fall the and grass has turned a golden yellowish-brown. Behind the vulture sits a leafless bush, framing the bird's black body. Hazy hills can be seen in the distance lying under a blue sky filled with puffy white clouds. An old weathered human skull rests on the rock before the vulture, and he puts his claw upon it like a conquering hero. He says aloud: "Alas, poor Yorick! He tasted good."

Here in North Georgia, I used to never see vultures. Rather, crows seemed to fill their niche at devouring dead animals. But over the past few years I've spotted black vultures more and more alongside the road. For this artwork, I just wanted to really do a simple portrait of a one such buzzard (note that, in America, the terms "Buzzard" and "Vulture" are synonymous). Daniel Eskridge

Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations.
