"Buck Over Autumn Valley"

A ten point buck stands proudly at the top of a boulder strewn hill that overlooks a lush valley. It's the height of fall and the trees that cover the landscape are covered in autumn colors of red, yellow, orange, and gold. Though it is still a warm autumn afternoon, the sky betrays the coming of winter as a front of dense clouds begins to devour the clear blue.

This stag is particularly brave (or foolish) as the fall is the middle hunting season. A whitetailed deer standing on an exposed hilltop at this time of year is perhaps not the smartest of animals. Perhaps several hunters would have this hart in their sites.

This deer themed artwork was inspired by a recent trip to the new Cabelas store that opened up recently near where I live in North Georgia. While not a hunter myself, I rather liked their hunting themed decor with lots of wildlife and forest imagery. Since it is the height of autumn here, I made the setting in my work to be during the same season.
