Description

A European badger climbs over a moss covered fallen log in a deep green forest.

I had someone ask if I had any badger themed art. At the time I did not, but it got me wondering how common badger themed art was. It turns out that badgers are a less common art subject than many other animals. So I thought I'd give one a try.

For this work, I decided to try a different surface for my oil pastels. I used watercolor paper rather than sanded paper. I found the water color paper to be quite challenging when it came to details as it had a looser but smoother texture. It took less layers and tended to defy fine lines more. It was definitely an interesting thing to try.

The original is on 11" x 14" water color paper with Sennelier Oil pastels and Faber Castel Polychromos colored pencils.
