Description
Archaeopteryx was in the news again this week: http://au.ibtimes.com/articles/188234/20110728/new-dinosaur-fossil-china-archeopterxy-birds-first-bird.htm. There is some chatter apparently that if might be reclassified as a dinosaur rather than a bird. I figured it would be a great opportunity to post a new Archaeopteryx artwork.
Its likely that Archaeopteryx ate bugs, so I have this one on lunging at a dragonfly. I dont normally do depth of field works, preferring to go for more a classical painting type scene, but it just seemed to fit here.
The characters were posed using Poser 2010, then were imported into Vue 9 where the rest of the scene was constructed. The Archaeopteryx model is by dinoraul which I got from renderosity.com. The dragonfly is from daz3d.com.

Neat!!! I think all the scientists now believe that many dinosaurs had feathers. Great composition and color.
