Description
The waters of Toonigh creek tumble over a rocky ledge. On either side of the small river, dense green trees line the shore. Yet, the sun breaks through the canopy of trees to glint of the waters as they splash over the falls.
To the north east of Atlanta lies Lake Allatoona. It's fed by many creeks and rivers. One of these, Toonigh Creek, merges with the lake at these falls. Not many people know about this waterfall as it is surrounded by private property and is therefore only accessible by small boat.
I actually learned about the existence of the falls while playing on Google Maps one day. After doing a bit of research, I decided that I had to see them for myself. Luckily, I had a small kayak and a free Saturday to go looking for them.
I spend a warm June morning paddling my kayak up to the falls to get a few shots of the falls. I used one of these as the basis for this artwork. Using Topaz Impression (http://IntrovertArtist.com/Impression) and GIMP I digitally enhanced the photo to look like an impressionist painting.
Thanks for Looking,
