A defiant looking young woman in a light dress faces you. Behind her stands her companion, a bay coated horse. The woman must perceive you as a thread for, in one hand, she holds a bowie knife. With her other hand she holds the horse’s head protectively. The scene is set on a grassy hill in the wilderness with a snow-covered jagged mountain rising in the background. The skies are dark and foreboding and mist rises from the ground indicating that a storm has just passed through, yet the wind still blows causing the woman’s hair and the horse’s mane and tail to dance.
From the artist: I got the idea for this image after a particularly violent Georgia summertime storm. For this scene, I really wanted to capture the mood of the moments that a storm has just wound down. About Daniel Eskridge

Daniel is a classically trained artist. A native of the East Cobb community in the Atlanta Metro area, he majored in art at the University of Georgia and has since accumulated over 25 years of art experience. Most well-known for his scientific illustrations of prehistoric creatures, he is also accomplished in creating Wild West art, fantasy art, wildlife scenes, and horror illustrations. His works have appeared in magazines and newspapers; the covers of books, albums, and products; and even in a few science and natural history museums.
