Description
Covered in Native American war paint, a grullo coated horse stands among the fallen autumn leaves in a forest full of bare trees. Cold mists which rise from the forest floor glow in morning sun behind this proud mustang. A chilling breeze of the coming winter blows through the woods and through the horse's black mane and tail.
I originally put this scene together without much of a plan for a subject. I just wanted a late fall image of a forest just before winter sets in. I really like the kind of muted colors. I added the war horse because I found that its coat had a nice visual rhythm with the brown leaves.
The meanings behind the markings:
Lines on its face represent victories in battle.
For keen senses, it has the sun painted around its eye and circles around its nostrils.
Because it has pushed a person over, the horse has hand prints on its chest.
The blue circles are hail to rain down upon enemies.
The arrow on its neck is a sign of victory.
The handprint on it hindquarters means it has accomplished a mission.
A symbol for a snake is on its hind leg, and above that, blue horses for captured mounts.
A cross on its flank is for escaping an ambush.
Thanks for looking!
