Description
"Sitting Giraffe"
A giraffe sits upon a grassy hill surrounded by small white and purple wild flowers. It gazes towards the viewer as if posing for its portrait. Behind it acacia trees are fade into the haze of the African afternoon. The late day sun illuminates the puffy clouds, giving then a warm tint.
Giraffes typically rest while standing up, but that does not mean they are unable to sit or lie down. Apparently, it is not particularly good for them as they get older, something to do with their circulatory systems. So this would have to be a young giraffe. In fact, I got the idea of this work when I saw a baby giraffe sitting in much the same position.

The hand signed Final Artist Proof for "Sitting Giraffe" is available for $2900. The proof is a 24" x 36" x 1.5" print on gallery wrapped canvas with black sides, signed by me, Daniel Eskridge, the artist, on the front side, bottom right corner where it will be visible to viewers.
What is a Final Artist Proof? To explain: Since I create my art digitally, there is no "original"; however, when publishing an image to my on-line print gallery, I sometimes like to see a print for myself to check that the image looks good on canvas. This proof is the ONLY hand signed hard copy of any given work, and likely the only print of that work ever in my direct possession.

About how I create my artwork:
Rather than traditional forms of art such as painting or photography, I use a computer to create my images. It's called 3D Rendering and works like so: I make a scene by sculpting and arranging digital models in a virtual 3D space. After stipulating lighting and atmospheric effects, I have the computer create a simulated environment from which I take a virtual snap shot of the scene. Then, using image editing software and something more akin to traditional painting techniques (via a Wacom tablet), I go over the work adjusting colors, adding brushwork, painting in details, etc. to produce the final image. Software I use includes: Sculptris, ZBrush, Blender3d, Vue, Daz Studio, and GIMP.
